There’s talk about indictment and/or imprisonment for a lot of powerful people.  Like many of my friends I am concerned about what will happen to citizens of this country if we have to go through months or even years of legal debates, lawsuits and the never ending headlines involving people of power.  We are all exhausted with the last year of debates and mudslinging.  This country’s people are at a breaking point.

Nothing gets done when we are distracted by indictment or criminal behaviors. When your life, your family, your state or your country is in chaos, it’s hard to be productive and move forward.

If you think electing a new president will fix all your problems and make your life 100% better – you are in for a big shock on November 9th.  We are all ready for a change in our country and probably in our personal lives as well, but will that happen?

No matter what happens on November 8, 2016….the person who wins will NOT be able to change most things about this country. He/she will be able to set our people free or make success easier but they can’t personally fix every part of our country.   Their administration will make a few general situations better (like healthcare or the military, the Supreme Court or the murder of innocent children) but their biggest accomplishment will be to give us the “freedom” to move on and make our own lives better.  It’s what we do with our own lives that will change this country for good.

“Wait a minute!  We have been praying now for 21 days.  We are all waiting for this election to be over and now you say there will be no difference?  What a gyp!”

There will be some difference.  We will either have the freedom to pursue our goals or we will move closer to socialism.  The difficult main issue we will face on November 9th is whether or not YOU and I will be indicted.

“Not me.  I haven’t done anything wrong.  There is no reason anyone would come after me.”

No one?  Are you sure?

Let’s pretend that American Christians were called together for a huge conference.  Because it included all professing Christians, it had to be held in the wide open spaces of the west.  The project was huge.  The logistics were overwhelming.  Yet, everyone pushed to participate.  Young and old were there and the excitement was electric.  People camped out, slept in cars or just roamed around.  It was a thousand times bigger than Woodstock and so much better.

Why was it better?  The speaker was Jesus.  Everyone was on their best behavior and we couldn’t wait to finally see him in person.  He had appeared to several of our great spiritual leaders and they all agreed that this event would happen.  Jesus was going to speak to the entire Christian body.  Of course, YOU and I HAD to be there!

YOU and I sat together.  Just a few rows back from the stage we waited with anticipation.  We were going to listen as Jesus spoke on one topic, “How to bring America back to God.”  Everyone there was on board with the topic and couldn’t wait to see if Jesus’ speech complimented the work we had done or the goals we created.  The sea of people stretched out on all sides.  People crammed in as close as possible from horizon to horizon.

Jesus appeared on the oval shaped stage and the crowd went wild!  We cheered, yelled, cried and fell on our knees.  You could feel his power and his strength.  It pierced through your heart and pulsed through your entire body.  Without a word Jesus touched every heart and made us ready for His speech.  Finally the crowd calmed down.

Jesus took His time and looked around as if he was connecting with individual eyes.  The quiet million plus sets of eyes grew moist.  When He looked in our direction we could feel him connecting and reading our soul. Slowly, the electric feeling was replaced with a fear as we realized the difference between our hypocritical display of virtue compared to the truth that God sees.

Jesus face grew somber.  His voice was quiet yet everyone heard him say, “Why have you forsaken me?  Why have you disregarded Biblical truths?  Why do you give me fake praise on Sunday and then live daily thinking only of your own comfort and your own family?  So many people in this great land are without my love….yet you spend more time reading e-mails than you do praying for the lost.”  Jesus went on for what seemed like hours but must have only been minutes.  He talked about the small things we refuse to do for Him and then reminded us of  the bigger plan He envisioned.  How could we have been so blind?  The state of this country was just as much our fault as anyone’s.

As He spoke no one moved a muscle.  Only a soft sob here and there could be heard.  The indictment was being read and there was no escape for the crowd.

Finally, He stopped.  He looked at each set of eyes again.  His face was different now.  It was like a child on the playground that had been rejected.  YOU and I were close enough to see His moist eyes.  It broke our hearts.

Shaking his head Jesus continued, “I gave up everything for you.  I wanted you to be saved from Satantic forces that want to destroy you.  But more than that, I loved you as only a father could.  I would do anything for you.  Yet, you treat me with disrespect.  You are more concerned about having fun and storing up for yourselves than you are about my work.  You are willing to let others perish without so much as a prayer said on their behalf.  You can’t gather around the alter and pray to me because you are afraid someone might be offended or you might miss something on TV.  That’s not love.  You break my commandments and my laws.   It is time my children learn to sacrifice and to follow me.

Therefore…..”

You add the ending.  What do you think Jesus would say?  We all know that Jesus loves us with an unlimited love.  He wants us to be close to him.  He wants that so much that he died the most cruel death to pay for our love.  Do you also know that once you become part of the family of God – that you are required to participate?  Did you know that God has never called anyone to be a spectator?

Let me ask again.  How do you think Jesus would end His talk?  Would he condemn you?  Would he say he is finally through with you?  Would he take away all your toys or punish you in some way?  Would he give you one more chance to get your spiritual act together?  Would He pat you on the back in a teasing way and say, “It’s okay. I don’t care that you don’t love me the way I love you.”

What if November 9th is the day that God gives his children another chance?  What if it is the day we have been given to dedicate ourselves to revival and a return to God’s plan?

It doesn’t matter if your candidate wins or not.  God wants you on His team.  God needs you to be the instrument for His plan.

With God we can fix the inner cities, education, drugs, marriages, families , healthcare and yes even corrupt governments.

If you really believe that God is the only answer for this country – then put your working clothes on.  God has all the answers but He can’t do this without you.  Now is the time to get busy.

God has the plan but YOU and I are the instruments He will use to get the job done!

Dear Jesus please forgive us of our sins.  Please forgive us for the apathy we have had about bringing others to you.

You have been with us through the election process.  Now that we are almost there, please help us to move forward – immediately – after our votes are cast.

November 9th is a call to work.  Please help us and give us the strength to get busy and get the job done.

See you tomorrow
